Supporting a Greener Future in Paradise
Lombok is more than turquoise waves and lush hills — it’s also home to a growing community of conscious entrepreneurs reimagining how we live, travel, and create.
At Surf & Yoga Lombok, we believe travel should give back to the places we love. That’s why we’re inspired by — and connected to — local initiatives making Lombok more sustainable every day.
Here are some of our favorite local changemakers:
Honest Made – Turning Waste into Value
Honest Made is revolutionizing waste management in South Lombok by transforming plastic waste into reusable products and building materials. Their recycling factory in Kuta helps reduce landfill waste and provides fair employment opportunities for locals while educating the community about sustainability.
We’re happy to partner with Honest Made by sponsoring one of their plastic collection bins for the local school we collaborate with (see our Surf & Yoga foundation project with the local school). This initiative allows the kids to see the recycling process firsthand and learn the importance of keeping their island clean — a small but meaningful step toward shaping a more conscious generation.
We also have an Honest Made collection bin at our retreat, so all our guests can contribute to this effort simply by sorting their waste responsibly.

Nine Nine – Conscious Fashion, Culture & Community
Nine Nine is a Lombok-based sustainable brand creating timeless, eco-conscious clothing using natural fabrics from Lombok and ethical production practices. Each piece reflects the island’s laid-back spirit — designed to last and made with care for both people and planet.
Beyond fashion, Nine Nine also nurtures community connection through creative workshops.
One of their most inspiring initiatives is the Coco, Sambal & Coffee Workshop — a hands-on cultural experience where participants learn to:
- Make traditional coconut oil from scratch
- Discover the secrets behind authentic Lombok coffee
- Prepare spicy homemade sambal while sharing stories about local life and culture
This warm and interactive class takes place every Monday & Thursday (4–6 PM) and includes local snacks, drinks, an experienced instructor, and your own jar of coconut oil to take home.
Guests staying with us at Surf & Yoga Lombok enjoy special access and recommendations to join — a beautiful way to connect with Lombok’s authentic roots and sustainable lifestyle.
We’re also proud to collaborate with Nine Nine and feature their products in our Surf & Yoga Lombok boutique, where guests can shop consciously and take a meaningful piece of the island home.

Awan Paper – Turning Plants into Paper
Awan Paper handcrafts unique, eco-friendly paper using agricultural waste like banana stems and pineapple leaves. Their beautiful, 100% biodegradable creations support a circular economy and show how creativity can turn what’s often discarded into something meaningful.
We’re also proud to showcase Awan Paper’s creations in our shop — from journals to handmade cards — supporting sustainable craftsmanship right here in Lombok.

Our Commitment
At Surf & Yoga Lombok, we do our best to follow the same values — reducing single-use plastics, supporting local producers, and encouraging our guests to travel mindfully.
We believe every small choice makes a difference. Together with these inspiring local brands, we’re helping to keep Lombok as raw, real, and beautiful as it is today.
